Some centers have received Accreditation, Certification and/or Commendation distinctions.
What’s the Difference?
Certification is a designation that a center receives when it meets nationally standardized criteria of a qualified Urgent Care center. This designation communicates that the Urgent Care center has easy access and offers services that treat a broad spectrum of illness, injury, and disease.
Accreditation builds on certification, advancing an Urgent Care organization to the highest level of distinction in patient care through safety, quality and scope of services. UCA Accreditation also includes recognition as a Certified Urgent Care center. Accreditation is granted to the organization and all centers must be included.
Commendation programs are available for Urgent Care organizations that demonstrate additional Quality commitments:
- The Antibiotic Stewardship Commendation program is for Urgent Care organizations that demonstrate a commitment to responsible prescribing practices for antibiotics.
- The Specialty Training Commendation is for Urgent Care organizations that provide formalized training and continuing medical education for providers in the Urgent Care medicine specialty.
